Cutting/Charcuterie Boards: Care Instructions

Cleaning: - After each use, wash the board with warm, soapy water. Avoid soaking it in water or placing it in the dishwasher, as this can cause warping or cracking. - Use a soft sponge or cloth to scrub the surface. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that can scratch the wood.

Drying: Immediately dry the board with a clean towel to prevent moisture absorption. Stand it upright or on a drying rack to ensure air circulation.

Re-Oiling: Every few weeks, or when the wood appears dry, reapply mineral oil to keep it hydrated. This helps prevent cracks and maintains the wood’s natural luster.

Deep Cleaning and Sanitization: For deeper cleaning or if the board has been used for raw meat, sanitize by mixing one part vinegar to four parts water or using a food-safe sanitizing solution. Wipe the board with this mixture and rinse with water, then dry thoroughly.

De-Odorizing: To remove odors, sprinkle baking soda on the surface and scrub gently with a damp cloth. Rinse and dry afterward.

Storage: Store the cutting board flat or standing upright in a dry area to prevent warping. Keep your cutting board away from direct heat sources and extreme temperature changes, as this can cause the wood to expand and contract, leading to cracks.

Scratch Repair: If minor scratches occur, lightly sand the area with fine-grit sandpaper and reapply a food grade Tung oil to restore the finish.
